While most couples are planning a special night out at some fancy, overly-packed restaurant in NYC for Valentine’s Day, both myself and my boyfriend are like… fuck thaaat. We’ll stay in, binge-watch terrible TV shows, and order Seamless. Seamless is the real #bae in our relationship.
Nothing spells romance more than ordering a dish called the Godzilla Roll. It’s a deep fried roll with eel and smoked salmon smothered in a spicy mayo sauce.
Equally lovely to eat among your loved-one is a fried soft-shell crab – there is nothing attractive about it. I was pleasantly surprised at how crispy the crab remained even after the delivery process.
Luckily the gyoza was easy to eat. These dumplings were stuffed with both pork and veggies, slightly pan-seared.
The most interesting part of the meal was this beef negimaki, which is essentially marinated beef strips rolled around scallions. I’m not sure how authentic this was, but it definitely was tasty – and with a slight tinge of teriyaki or something sweet. Let’s just say that this, too, was hard to eat while looking attractive.
To be honest, I think Stephen accepts me for what I am. Or so I hope. Happy Valentine’s Day babe!
